World's First Poisonous Bird Discovered

Hey students! Let me ask you a question. Have you ever heard of a poisonous
bird?
你們有聽過有毒的鳥嗎？

It's a small orange and black bird. It lives in a country called Papua New
Guinea.
這種鳥小小的，有黑色跟橘色的毛，住在一個叫做巴布亞紐幾內亞的國家。

Papua New Guinea is on a big island, near Australia. But it's still much
bigger than Taiwan.

There's an interesting story about how the bird was discovered. A scientist
was trying to catch another kind of bird. He put nets in trees to catch the
bird. But he got the poisonous orange and black bird instead.
這一隻鳥是怎麼被發現的呢？科學家本來要抓另外一種鳥，結果抓到這一隻有毒的鳥。

How did he know the bird was poisonous? He tried to get the bird out of the
net. When he did that, it bit and scratched his fingers. Ouch!
當他要把這一隻鳥從網子抓出來時，他被咬又被抓傷。

Then, the scientist put his fingers to his mouth to lick his hand-the same
hand that he had just grab the bird with.

Later, his mouth burned and felt numb. That's how he found out the bird was
poisonous.
科學家把受了傷的手放進嘴巴舔，結果嘴巴變得麻麻燙燙的。

Luckily, the bird wasn't very poisonous, so he wasn't hurt badly.
幸好這隻鳥沒有很毒，他才沒有怎樣。

Remember, if you go to Papua New Guinea, don't touch that orange and black
bird!
