Blue Cows

Have you ever seen a blue cow? Sure… in a cartoon, maybe. But would you
believe me if I told you that there really are blue cows? It's true!
你有看過藍色的牛嗎？

In Europe, there is a county called Latvia. In Latvia, they have a special
kind of cow that is blue! Some of them are light blue and some are dark blue.
歐洲有一個國家叫拉脫維亞，那裡就有藍色的牛，而且有深有淺。

When the blue cows are babies, they have curly fur on their bodies... and the
fur is blue, too!
牠們剛出生的時候，身上有一層捲毛，也是藍色的。

So, how did they become blue? Don't worry… no one painted them… they are
naturally blue! Why? Who knows? The cows in that part of the world are just…
blue.
這種牛怎麼會是藍色的呢？沒人知道為什麼。

20 years ago there were only a few blue cows left. But today, there are lots
and lots of them in Latvia. Some people in Latvia say the blue cow is their
country's special animal… just like the special Taiwan Black Bear we have
here.
二十年前藍色的牛很少見，現在拉脫維亞有很多，當地人說那是他們國家的特色，就像台灣黑熊一樣。

Do people eat the blue cows? Yes… sometimes… but the meat also looks kind
of blue, so some people don't want to eat them.

Blue cows… wow, that's cool! Moooo… I'm bluuuue!
